Albert YS Chu

Lead Pastor

Originally from Toronto Ontario, Albert first moved to Geneva Switzerland to work with Franciscan Monks at the United Nations before coming to Vancouver. But, no matter where he went he continued to feel God’s calling to pastoral ministry.

In 2004 he came to the rainy city do his M.Div at Regent College and also because his girlfriend was studying to be a physiotherapist across the street. While he was falling in love with Jessie he also fell in love with a tiny church plant by the name of, “The Tapestry” and he never left.

Albert is the Lead Pastor of the Tapestry Church, a multi-campus church in the Lower Mainland.

He is passionate about creating space, not only physical space, but designing a safe environment and a hospitable culture that allows people the room to discover and grow as disciples of Jesus.  It was this passion that led Albert to plant Tap Richmond back in 2004 and continues to fuel his desire to start new missional experiments and church plants.

He is also the Director of the Centre for Missional Leadership at St. Andrews Hall, which strives to equip leaders for God’s mission in this corner of the world we affectionately call Cascadia.

He holds a M.Div from Regent College as well as an MA in Sociology with a specialization in religion and deviancy from the University of Alberta.

Albert is married to Frieda and is blessed with two lovely daughters. They love to travel, cycle, cook, and wander with their backpacks within the 117,900 acres of bliss called Mt. Baker Wilderness.
